Some young people tend to think that they are invincible. Unfortunately, this can lead to teen drivers making decisions that put not only themselves in harm’s way, but also their passengers.
Such is the case for a young man whose death was the result of engaging in a high-speed chase with another car.
Road rage causes a fatal car accident
According to the Kent Reporter, one witness recounts the incident, which seems to be a result of road rage gone south. An unidentified vehicle hit the bumper of the young man’s vehicle before making a U-turn and driving away. The young man in the vehicle also turned around and followed the vehicle. At one point, he may have been driving an excess of 40 miles over the designated speed limit. Unfortunately, the young man lost control of his car and ran off the road where he hit a nearby light pole and died. Paramedics brought the two passengers in his car to the hospital. Authorities are still searching for the other vehicle.
Think things through to avoid accidents
While it is common to make impulsive decisions from time to time, people need to understand the consequences of their actions before they make dangerous decisions. It may be difficult not to let road rage take control in this type of situation, but it may be the difference between life and death. According to one study, just under 7% of road rage incidents result in fatalities. Unfortunately, young drivers who lack experience in dealing constructively with these incidents may be more prone to engage in road rage than leaving it alone.
